Waltzing Matilda - or, not so much.

My poor little baby has had a rough week, and unfortunately it's not over yet.

On Monday, she had to visit the vet for a pre-surgery check up and an update on her vaccines. I wasn't too worried about this appointment. Apparently I should have been.

On the car ride there, she was a total nutcase. Crying and crying and climbing all over me and the seat, not wanting to sit still. She pooped (on my newly shampooed seats) and I had to pull over to clean it up and let her pee. We got to the vet and I realized I forgot my wallet. This was a big mess, but thank gosh my mom was able to come and save me. (Thanks, mom!)

Matilda was a really good girl at the vet. She had her ears and eyes checked, her heart and lungs listened to, had blood drawn for her surgery, and got her rabies, distemper and kennel cough vaccines. After the vet told me what were normal symptoms after vaccinations and what weren't, we got in the car and headed home.

About 5 minutes into our 30 minute car ride, she threw up. Then she laid down, didn't move or cry, and just laid there. The vet told me to watch out for throwing up and lethargy. Great. I thought, well, she hates the car and she did just have a really traumatic experience, let's see how she is after she gets home and goes potty and sees Reese.

Well, she ended up throwing up for 2 or 3 hours and just laying around. I was really nervous and called the emergency vet. They pretty much said to watch her and if she wasn't better by the next day, to bring her in. The next morning she seemed a bit better, very thirsty and hadn't thrown up in a while. But she still wasn't herself - she had no energy. So I took a half day from work and stayed home to be with her. By that evening, she was fine.

She needed to get groomed Wednesday before her surgery. She was much better on this car ride. She cried a bit, but basically just laid on the passenger seat and chilled. I dropped her off at the groomers without a hitch. I told them that I would be back at 3pm when I got out of work.

Until I called to check on her around 11am. They then informed me that dogs couldn't stay there for more than 5 hours and that I would need to pick her up at noon. Again, great. So I scrambled (while at work) to figure out what to do. I really didn't want to drive an hour round-trip on my half-hour lunch break to take her home. So, my good buddy Jason helped me out by letting her stay at his salon until I got out of work. Yay!

Matilda was SO good in the car on the ride home from the salon. Just a few car rides and she's already used to it! Good girl! And thank gosh, because she has another car ride bright and early tomorrow morning. To the vet. To get spayed. I am SO nervous about this, considering how poorly she reacted to the vaccines. I'm just very worried that she's going to be extremely sick... or worse. I can't even let my thoughts wander there. She's going to be fine. I'm going to pick her up right after work and take care of her all night and all weekend. She's going to be fine.

Here's before and after grooming pictures:

P.S. Just had to share this cute little collage I made of pictures I took of a squirrel on our front porch!

[Click the pic to enlarge.]

P.P.S. Also had a little photo shoot with my chubby boy! In my opinion, he's very photogenic - minus the lack of a neck, and only if you have red eye removal :)

(Keep your fingers crossed that Matilda's surgery goes well, and I'll update when I can.) <3

Random post!!

I've come across a few cute things I want and I thought I'd post here as a way to motivate myself to actually make/buy them!!

First, I am totally in love with these owl (shocker!) address labels:

Only $7.50 for 28 of them!

I also looove this adorable personalized door mat:

 (Walmart, $16.00)

Of course I love it in the green, but it also comes in red, blue and gray.

And lastly (for now), I really want to attempt to make this Spring wreath:

I stole the idea from this blog, who stole the idea from this blog. Hopefully I'll be able to create something similar!! :)

New house!!

This weekend we were invited to baby Jadyn's 1st birthday party! What was even more fun about it was the fact that it was in our "new" house! Our friends Kerri and Scott live there now and are renting it to us when they move out. 2 months and 4 days until our move in date! Woo hoo! So I thought I'd share a few pics of the place. :)

Keep in mind - they were in the middle of a 20 adult + 10 child party, so the place is pretty messy. But you can still get a feel for it. :) Also, the pics are rather blurry and crappy, as they were taken from my cell phone in a hurry.

Here is the outside of the house (from Google maps):

There is a 2 car garage (which we get 1 side of), and also a large driveway on the left hand side.

Out back there is a covered gazebo, a jacuzzi, a rock garden, a fire pit, and a 12 foot Koi pond (you can see the raised up pond in the below picture):

When you walk in the front door, you have the living room with (Doug's favorite feature of the house) a projection screen TV (you can sort of see it behind all the gals).

[That's baby Jadyn and her adorable mom, Kerri, as she opens our card!]

If you turn right off the living room, you come to the kitchen! Probably my favorite feature of the house resides in the kitchen - the dishwasher! (You can only see a small sliver of it on the right side of the first pic, but I'm excited as hell to have it!)

If you go through the kitchen you'll reach the addition, which we lovingly refer to as the fireplace room! (It is also sometimes referred to as the "bar" room - mostly by Doug hehe.) (The sun shining on the plant is coming from the sliding glass doors which open up to the gazebo and jacuzzi.) There is also a bathroom tucked there that will be Doug's bathroom (he can keep it as messy as he desires!).

30,000 BTU's baby!

If you go the other way through the kitchen you'll hit a hallway, which holds MY bathroom (that's right, two sinks just for me!):

Our bedroom is at the end of the hallway. It's very small, but that shouldn't be too big of a deal. (Super blurry, crappy pics.)

Across from our room will be Mason's room. Doug's going to attempt to build him a similar bunk bed, and Mason has requested that we paint his room green. (Those are our friends Mike & Jen, and the little face in the very background is their adorable daughter, Victoria!)

And lastly, but most certainly not leastly!.. is the nursery!! Doug and I are still going back and forth about whether to leave the room green or not (I say no, he says yes - which is surprising, considering it's my favorite color! I just think it's too much.).

And there you have it! Our new house! I added a countdown until move in date - we should officially be completely moved in by June 1st. Yay!!! :)

Reese's relatives!

The woman that I bought Reese from emailed me today! I told her all about how my little chub is doing and she sent me pictures of his parents and his grandpa! So cute!!

This is Reese's father, Vinnie. What a little sweetie!

That's Reese's mom (he looks JUST like her!!), Brandi and his Grandpa (Vinnie's Dad), Monte.

My little Reese <3

P.S. My little boy has a birthday coming up very soon!! :)

Horseys!

Just wanted to share some pics of the horses that live on a farm near our house in Akron. There's about 5 of them, a mini horse, and 2 foals. I've gotten a chance to watch the foals grow up over the 6 months I've lived down the street and it's been great. They get so big so fast!

I went to visit them yesterday and the babies weren't there :( But one of the big gals was and she came over to say hi. She is always the first to come over when you pull up. The horses are very used to people visiting and feeding them. We usually bring them apples or carrots in the summer. The big gal came up to say hello, got huffy when she realized I had no food and only wanted to take pictures lol, and walked away. Then one of the other gals came up. They really are such beautiful magestic creatures.

Today was the day.

I can't remember how much I've blogged about this before, and this is going to be brief, but I did want to document the day.

March 25th, 2011 about 17 months after his birth, I finally got a picture of the little boy that I helped create through egg donation. He is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and I finally feel a sense of closure about the whole experience.

I will treasure this picture forever.

Terrible Mommy!

I am such a terrible mommy!

My beautiful baby girl turned TWO on February 3rd, 2011.

Matilda Jane

My first baby girl was Sophie, the Pug.

I bought her from an Upper East side pet store when I dormed in NYC going to acting school. She was such a sweetie, so much fun. I of course brought her with me when I moved back home to Buffalo.

I had to have surgery on my foot and wasn't going to be able to go up and down the stairs to take her outside, so my mom decided to take her for me for a little while. It's been years now, and Sophie has never been to my house again, lol! My mom fell in love with her and kept her.

I then got my little prince, Reese.

I got Reese from a woman in Niagara Falls. He was so tiny and sweet :) But at this time, I was working a lot (a looooot) of hours as a police officer, and I felt bad that my little man was home alone all the time. SO I decided to get another puppy!

I got Matilda from Sunnyview Kennel in Lebanon, Missouri in April of 2009 when she was 10 weeks old. I don't really know what possessed me to get a Maltese, but I don't regret it at all. They are such smart, loyal, sweet dogs.

I remember going to the airport to pick her up where she was safely flown in. She was SO so small. I mean, like 1 lb. I couldn't believe that little puppy flew all that way!! She was a mess and super scared. But I got her home and cleaned up and she seemed to be doing well. I left her in her crate and put it on the floor in the middle of the living room, as I had heard that was how you were supposed to introduce dogs to each other. Reese was sniffing her like crazy and she was getting all excited. I let her out of the crate, and they've been inseperable ever since. :)

She's extremely smart and well behaved. She always goes outside, goes potty, and comes right back in when she's done (unlike her brother!). She catches her treat in mid-air almost every time. And the thing I love most about Matilda is the way she stares into my eyes. Like a newborn baby.. just gazes at me while I rub her belly. She's so sweet and loyal and truly a mama's girl.

Happy Belated Birthday to my sweet princess. <3

Update!

Well, Thursday's ultrasound went well! It showed 4 potential follies - (left) 12.1, 12.9; (right) 13.4 and 13.6. This was CD10, so they still had a ways to go. The nurse wanted me to come back in on Saturday (CD12) to see the progress.

I also found out some great news at my Thursday appointment. When I get my BFP, I will come into the office for bloodwork, also known as a Beta to find out my HcG level. I will then come in shortly after for another Beta to make sure the level is rising as it should. About a week later I will get my first u/s - which will be about 5 weeks pregnant!! And then I get ANOTHER u/s at 7 weeks! They will then pass me off to my obgyn. I feel VERY blessed to be with a practice where I get TWO u/s before some women even get their first! How lucky! :)

Thursday night, Maria, Cameron, Doug & I double dated at Shogun. So fun, and the food was really good.

Friday I had the day off work and was basically just a good little housewife. I cleaned, I did laundry, I ran errands, I grocery shopped, and I had dinner (pretty much) on the table when my hubby and stepson got home.

Saturday's ultrasound showed that two of them kept growing - (right) 16.5 and 18. So it looks like I'm going to "pop" out two eggies! Very shortly! Negative OPKs so far (CD13 and CD14, SMU), so I'm thinking I'll ovulate on CD16 (positive OPK on CD15) like I usually do. Kind of a bummer that the Femara didn't make me O any earlier. Oh well. Doug's been calling my two eggies "the twins" and joking that he already fertilized them both (even though they haven't even "popped" yet, lol)... let's hope he's right and at least one of them does get fertilized!!

I also got my car washed and ran some more errands. Then I had a fun night with Cam & Jason watching Overboard and But I'm a Cheerleader!

Sunday, Doug and I took Mason to Quaker Steak & Lube - and we won't go back again. It took FOREVER and the food wasn't that great. I did think this was funny though:

[How HOT does hot sauce have to be for you to have to sign a release form?! Wow!!]

Doug and I also went ahead broke down and bought Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. Up until now we've only bought video games that are 1 player (Red Dead Redemption and Fallout: New Vegas).. so this is the first game we've gotten that we can play TOGETHER! Yay! :)

Nothing too exciting this week. I'll be ovulating and we'll be BDing like crazy, hoping to catch at least ONE of the "twins"!! :) I'll update when I can.

P.S. Congrats Meg on your BFP!!! A Happy & Healthy 9 months to you and your DH!! <3

St. Patty's Day fun!

Well, today's the big day. No, not St. Patrick's Day ;) ...the big CD10 u/s to see how many follies I've grown. I can't wait. I'm so nervous yet excited. It's like Christmas, except, there is the chance that you'll get coal. And you just have to wait and see if the higher ups think you were good or not.

But, yes yes, it is St. Patty's Day. And we're celebrating here in my office the best way we know how - with food and goofy costumes!!
