18 weeks!

Nursery progress!

Painting - ALMOST done. Just a few tiny finishing touches (that Daddy keeps putting off). But the crib is set up! And the decal is up! It looks AWESOME.

I'm so so happy with how it's turning out.

18 week Anomaly scan yesterday went good and bad. Good because Parker appears to be 100% perfect and healthy - 2 kidneys, all 4 heart ventricles, his brain/spine looked great, and his little face.

Bad because they confirmed what I thought - I have an anterior placenta. No wonder I haven't been feeling much of any movement at all. So frustrating! And even worse, I have an almost complete placenta previa.

You can't deliver vaginally with a placenta previa. C-section only. I was devastated when she told me this. Like, couldn't breathe while driving home because I was crying so hard, had to pull over.

I'm clearer now, and I know that we are lucky to have gotten pregnant. We are lucky that he's healthy. And however he comes, it doesn't matter in the end. I just didn't plan for this whatsoever. I wanted a specific labor. Wanted Doug to cut the cord. Wanted Parker laid on my chest, and to breastfeed right away. Most of that won't be possible with a c-section, and that is devastating.

But, it still has time to move. They will just monitor it. And if we get to pick his birthday, 10-11-12 is pretty darn cool. Plus we'll get to meet him earlier.

His cheeks are definitely getting chubbier - he is 10 oz now! And 6 inches long. Huge!! Almost halfway, can't believe it.

Random: I'm loving these shelves for the nursery:

And I've gotten a few of the "bigger" pieces for the nursery:

1. Paint - Behr, "Tropical Holiday". (Top half of room, above chair rail.)
2. Robot wall decal - Etsy.

4. Mustachio, the cutest robot ever - Etsy

6. Spice racks turned bookshelves - Ikea
7. South Shore Peak-a-boo Collection changing table/dresser combo - Target.
8. Grayson Grommet window panels - Target.
9. Graco Lauren 4-in-1 Convertible Crib - Walmart
10. "Prince" print - Etsy.
11. Personalized chair - Pottery Barn Kids.
12. Chevron fabric basket organizer - Etsy
13. Robot pillow - Etsy.
14. Chevron "P" print - Etsy.
15. "Optimist" robot print - Etsy.
16. Chevron switch plate - Etsy.

And I skipped 17 weeks :( It's crazy how time gets away from you!!

How far along? 18 weeks. <3
Total weight gain/loss: About 13-15 lbs.. will have official weigh in a week from today at OBGYN's.

Maternity clothes? Maternity jeans and 2 tops, and bought a pair of maternity shorts this weekend - super comfy. And maternity bra, and got a tankini bathing suit that will grow with my bump. Other than that just long stretchy tanks.
Stretch marks? Some on my boobs. Boo. They seem to come and go though! Weird. -- Same.
Sleep: It's hit or miss. My allergies are definitely bugging me early in the morning.

Best moment this week: Finding out that Parker appears to be 100% healthy and normal. And seeing his little face again.
Miss Anything? Nope! I feel great!!!
Movement: Not much, thanks to my anterior placenta :(

Food cravings: Fruit and salads with Ranch dressing.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really.Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? It's pretty much flat which is sooo weird.

Wedding rings on or off? Engagement ring on whenever I leave the house. It's snug though on hot days.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Was pretty sad yesterday after finding out about the placenta previa, but I'm trying to look at the positives.

Looking forward to: Finding out if the placenta previa has moved, feeling more movement (should start in the next 2-3 weeks), working on the nursery some more.

Edited to add: Called the OBGYN today. Nurse said, "Call back at 1:30pm to get doctor's recommendation. Usually it's bed rest." I was like, gasp. I've had NO bleeding, no problems.. really?! Bed rest? We can't afford that right now!

So, I called back at 1:30. No bed rest. Phew. If I started to bleed, I might have to go on bed rest. If I start to bleed and there is fetal distress, he will deliver and has done so as early as 23 1/2 weeks.

BAD news - no vacation to Vegas/Cali for this girl. Doc says no flying. Very, very sad about that. Doug will be gone for 9 days without me. Gonna be lonely, depressed, bored, and worried that something will happen while he's gone. :(

Girls on the placenta previa BBC board say that there is a huge chance it will move. Not sure why my doc is being so pessimistic - he said very low chance it will move. Hm. Well, let's just hope he's wrong. Maybe he's trying to prepare me for the worst. I will take it easy, I will not fly, and they will continue to monitor me and we'll see, I guess. I'm hoping I can somehow get my money back for the flight. That's a lot of cash. :(

You still have plenty of time for your placenta to move. I'm surprised they actually 'diagnosed' you at this point since it's still so early. I wouldn't worry about it.

Love the nursery! We still need to start ours yet. I was also diagnosed with an anterior placenta. Didn't feel any movement until I was about 20/21 weeks.
